The new naughty corner

I called my children over and over and they did not come. I called louder and louder and they stayed fixated on their games. So, I switched off the Wi-Fi.
They came running immediately. “MOM! The Internet is off!” I said “Yes, I know. I was calling you and you didn’t come, so I switched the router off. If you want it back you have chores to do first.”
In our home, children need to earn their digital privileges. Access to gadgets is a privilege that needs to be earned and is used today to discipline our children. There is no longer a naughty corner where they have to stand or sit and think about their recent misbehaviour. All we need to do is take away the phone, gaming console, tablet or any other internet-enabled device.
